According to Professor He Aihua, a new generation of trans-isoprene rubber material has more unique properties, such as excellent dynamic fatigue performance, low temperature performance and wear resistance, etc., used in rubber products, giving the product more prominent wear resistance, Low heat generation and low rolling resistance are ideal rubber materials for developing high performance green long-life tires. At the same time, its excellent dynamic performance can also be used in rubber damping materials. This new rubber material and its synthetic technology have not been reported at home and abroad. It is a new type of synthetic rubber and its synthesis technology. Compared with the foreign solution polymerization process, the polymerization process is greatly simplified, the investment can be saved by more than half, and no three wastes can be discharged.

It is reported that internationally successively, the United Kingdom Dunlop Company, the Canadian Baolanshan Company and the Japanese Kuraray Company have researched and developed trans-isoprene rubber, which are all polymerized using the vanadium system catalyst solution method. However, due to the low catalytic activity, low solution concentration, combined with the small scale, the cost is too high, the selling price is more than 10 times that of natural rubber, it is difficult to be widely used, only for the production of medical splints. Qingdao University of Science and Technology invented the new technology of synthesizing trans-isoprene rubber under the support of three National Natural Science Funds and three “863” projects, and completed the first-generation 500-ton synthetic TPI industrial pilot in 2006. Based on years of accumulated research and development, the new rubber and plastics synthesis and application team has also participated in the independent development of the second generation of trans-isoprene rubber, constantly exploring the polymerization process and conducting structural and performance tests.
