In August, South African domestic car sales rose 35.6% year-on-year

Geely Auto reported that the data released by NAAMSA showed that the South African automobile industry continued to grow on the basis of low sales last year. In August, South African domestic car sales rose by 35.6% year-on-year, from the same period of last year. 29,675 vehicles rose to 40,235 vehicles.

In the first eight months of this year, South African car sales rose by 22.7% year-on-year, from 258,550 vehicles in the same period last year to 317,223.

Overall, in August, Toyota Motor occupied the first place in South Africa's auto market, selling a total of 8,484 vehicles, accounting for 18.3% of South Africa's auto market share.

In addition, compared with last year's low level of export volume, in August this year, South African auto exports increased by 117.1% year-on-year to 19,603 units. Due to the economic crisis, South Africa’s auto exports fell to 9,028 in August 2009.
