Analysis of the Changes in the Number and Value of China's Automobile Imports in the Last Four Years

From January to July, the national automobile import increased year-on-year

According to the “Main Customs Statistics” of the General Administration of Customs of China, a total of 458,000 imported vehicles (including spare parts) were imported from China in January-July 2010, an increase of 152.7 percent over the same period of last year; the import value was US$16.94 billion, an increase of 160.7 percent year-on-year. %. From January to July 2009, the import volume of automobiles (including spare parts) was 181,000, and the import volume was 6.49 billion US dollars, which was lower than the January-July 2008 period (246,000 imports and 9.15 billion US dollars, respectively). 26.5% and 29.1%.

From the import data of the whole year of 2007-2009, China's auto import volume and amount both maintained a year-on-year growth rate of more than 30% in 2007 and 2008; in 2009, under the influence of the financial crisis, imports were only In 2008, it increased by 2.8%, and imports only increased by 1.4%. The amount and amount of imports from January to July this year have exceeded the full year of 2009; the growth rate is also the highest level in recent years.

Imports in Shanghai Customs District soared, and the Shenzhen Customs District dropped for two consecutive months

In terms of sub-regions, there are major differences in the vehicle import situation in the customs districts.

The import volume of Shanghai port autos (including complete spare parts) reached USD 3.14 billion, an increase of 187.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate was higher than the national average. Among the cars imported from the Customs District, the growth rate of imports of small cars (including complete spare parts), small passenger cars (including complete spare parts), and 10 to 29 passenger cars is high, both at over 200%. The imports of the second-largest vehicle in the customs area, the four-wheel drive SUV (four-wheel drive light sport utility vehicle), only increased by 137.2% from January to July this year. According to the latest data released by the Shenzhen Customs District, in the first half of 2010, the import volume of Shenzhen port vehicles only increased 38.5% year-on-year to US$460 million; the import volume increased 40.1% year-on-year to 8,758 vehicles.

And the statistics of the customs area for the most recent two months of car imports have dropped year-on-year. Although automobile imports all increased significantly in January-April, monthly negative growth began in May with only 625 vehicles imported, a year-on-year decrease of 21.6%. In June, it continued its declining momentum and imported only 439 vehicles, a sharp drop of 52.5% year-on-year.
