New Ford Super Pickups with BorgWarner Variable Cam Timing Technology

The BorgWarner Cam Torque (CTA) Variable Cam Timing (VCT) technology and timing system was applied to Ford's new 2011 Super Pickup to help improve power performance and fuel economy, as well as reduce emissions. This pickup is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 petrol engine. Compared to conventional hydraulic oil-driven VCT systems, BorgWarner CTA technology optimizes the variable cam timing system, allowing the engine to respond faster and operate more efficiently in all speed ranges. With BorgWarner's leading technology, these super pickups can deliver up to 385 horsepower and 405 pounds per foot of torque. Compared with the previous 5.4-liter engine, its fuel economy increased by 15%.

James Verrier, president and general manager of BorgWarner Moss, said: "BorgWarner CTA technology and timing drive system enable drivers to experience the unbelievably strong power performance of pickup trucks, and this technology can also improve the fuel economy. Sex, lower emissions, the technology debuted on the Ford 2009 Maverick, and was adopted by the 2011 Ford Mustang GT earlier this year. We are pleased to see that more and more Ford cars continue to adopt BorgWarner CTA technology. ."

The variable cam timing system optimizes the opening and closing of intake and exhaust valves over the entire engine speed range, maximizing fuel economy and performance. Traditional cam phase systems use oil to regulate camshafts. BorgWarner Cam Torque Start (CTATM) technology utilizes the camshaft's torsional energy, similar to hydraulic ratchets. The BorgWarner Cam Torque Start (CTATM) phaser reacts faster and can accommodate larger engine speeds and temperature ranges. In addition, the critical time that most of the emissions will occur before the engine is started and the catalytic converter is started. The BorgWarner cam torque starter phasers are in active operation.

BorgWarner's CTA Variable Cam Timing Technology won the "2009 American Automotive News PACE Award" and won the "American Automotive News PACE Innovation Cooperation Award" for its successful cooperation with Ford in the 3.0-liter Duratec V6 engine in 2009. ".
