Analysis of Surface Wear of Ball Mill Ball in a Grinding Process

Compared with the two-stage grinding process, the advantages of a grinding process are: (1) the number of classifiers is small and the investment is low; (2) the production operation is easy and the adjustment is simple; there is no intermediate product transportation between segments and segments. The multi-series ball mill can be placed on the same level, the equipment configuration is simple; it will not affect the work of another section of the mill due to the shutdown of a mill or classifier, and the downtime loss is small; (3) Each series can be installed with larger equipment. The disadvantages are as follows: (1) The mill has a wide range of grain size, reasonable ball loading, and low mill efficiency; (2) it is difficult to obtain a fine final product.

The surface force of the ball mill grinding ball can be decomposed into normal force and tangential force. The sharp material (abrasive grain) which moves relative to the grinding ball is embedded in the surface under the action of normal force, and the low hardness abrasive grain causes the surface of the grinding ball to be generated. Shallow scratches and high-hardness abrasive grains cause cutting grooves. Scratches and metal cutting groove of the plastic deformation occurs and accumulation in the anterior sides.

The high strain rate causes the internal dislocations of the metal which have undergone plastic deformation to accumulate, forming a cell structure, the properties become hard and brittle, and after repeated rolling, strain fatigue cracks occur, the properties become hard and brittle, and then repeatedly crushed, resulting in Strain fatigue cracks that extend to the surface, causing wear debris to fall off. Fatigue wear. Under the action of repeated impact stress, contact compressive stress and shear stress, the grinding ball is repeatedly impacted and squeezed and slid with each other, causing alternating Hertzian contact stress under alternating pressure and shearing force. The maximum alternating shear stress is generated in the subsurface of the material, and the peak tensile stress is generated at the edge of the contact zone, resulting in fatigue cracks in the brittle phase, inclusions or voids of the subsurface, crack propagation and interlacing, and finally peeling and abrasion of the grinding skin. . If the crack is generated in a deeper part and spreads to the inside along the brittle phase and the defect, a large longitudinal crack is formed. The crack will merge and extend to the surface, which will cause the surface of the grinding ball to fall off. The number of grinding sections must be determined by technical and economic comparison according to the specific situation.
