Recently, Baosteel independently developed 8,000 tons of high-quality ship plates for Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard to build high-grade LNG carriers (LNG ships), completed mass production at Baosteel Branch Heavy Plate Plant, and sent them to Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding Base on time. This indicates that Baosteel has taken the lead in realizing the production and batch supply of LNG ship plates in China, and initially has the production capacity of high-end marine boards.
At the end of last year, Baosteel Co., Baosteel Branch and Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard carried out several technical exchanges and decided to provide Baosteel for the third LNG ship with 8000 tons of Class A ship plates accounting for 35% of the total ship steel. After repeated discussions, calculations and optimization, the research personnel determined the "Technical Plan for Production of LNG Ship Plates". Baosteel Branch successfully rolled out the batch of LNG ship plates through project technical research, meticulous organization of production and strict control of the process. According to the inspection by the American ABS Authoritative Classification Society, the performance indexes of these ships have been excellent, and the dimensional specifications have met the strict requirements of users.
It is reported that before 2011, China will build 15 LNG ships to form a professional LNG fleet. At present, Baosteel is actively strengthening exchanges with Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard in this regard.
