Siemens receives 10 million euro orders from Daewoo Shipbuilding
Recently, the Siemens Drive Technologies Division has received a contract worth 10 million euros from Daewoo Shipbuilding to provide an economical-friendly propulsion and power system for the 18,000 TEU Triple E-class container ship being built for Maersk, including shaft generator motors and power generation systems.
It is reported that each of these Triple E-class container ships will be equipped with one double propulsion system and two low-speed super long-stroke engines to drive independent propellers. Two sets of shaft generator motor power generation systems have a single power of 3 MW and are equipped with a waste heat recovery system to capture engine waste heat for power generation.
