Hankook Tire builds production of light trucks and high-performance tyres in Indonesia

Hankook Tire recently held an inauguration ceremony for its newly built factory in Indonesia. This factory has also become Hankook Tire's seventh plant on a global scale.

The new plant, located in Lippo Cikarang, West Java, Indonesia, will launch passenger car radial tires, ultra-high performance tires and light truck tires. In the future, the plant will export 4.2 million tires each year to the North American, Middle East and ASEAN markets. 70%, the remaining capacity will be used to supply the local market.

Seung Hwa Suh, Deputy Chairman and CEO of Hankook Tire, said: “The completion of the new plant marks another milestone in the continuous growth of Hankook Tire, and clearly reflects our further expansion in Indonesia and other emerging economies. Business will and commitment."

Hankook Lippo Cikarang broke ground in June 2011 and was scheduled to start production in the fourth quarter of last year. At present, the factory employs approximately 1,400 employees and the total number of employees is expected to increase to 4,300 by 2018. Previously, Hankook Tire announced that it plans to invest a total of US$1.1 billion into the plant by 2018.
