Fan Rende: China's construction of a tire testing ground mature

Recently, Fan Rende, president of the China Rubber Industry Association, said that the construction of a tire testing ground is very necessary for the development of the entire tire industry. Without test methods, local tires are difficult to penetrate into the automotive market and are very unfavorable for future exports. At present, the conditions for the construction of tire testing sites in China have matured, and the role of companies, governments, and domestic and foreign investment groups should be brought into play to jointly promote the construction of test sites.

Fan Rende believes that the tire testing ground is an important means for the application of new tire technology and the development of new products, and it is also an important symbol to reflect the level of tire production and development in a country. Without a tire testing ground, it will be difficult for China to move from a big tire country to a tire power. The incomplete test method has become the bottleneck for tire companies’ independent innovation, which has led to the inability of Chinese tires to enter the original tire market and can only be used as replacement tires. In addition, the European Union stipulates that starting in 2012, tire manufacturers must specify on the tires performance such as fuel efficiency, wet skid resistance and noise, noise, wet road performance, and rolling resistance that characterizes fuel efficiency. Tire test sites can obtain accurate data. However, China has not yet had a tire testing ground of its own so it is imperative to build a domestic tire testing ground.

China already has the conditions to build a tire testing ground, and the enthusiasm of tire companies is unprecedentedly high. However, due to the huge investment in the construction of a tire testing ground, the maintenance cost is very high, and it is difficult to maintain in the case of insufficient test volume. Fan Rende suggested that, relying on specialized agencies to do a good job in advance risk assessment, the state should take the lead and the association should participate in the construction of a domestic public-type tire testing ground for the entire industry.
