China and foreign countries sign energy-saving and emission reduction cooperation agreement

On December 9, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China's SME Foreign Cooperation Coordination Center and ABB Group signed a three-year energy saving and consumption reduction strategy cooperation framework agreement in Beijing. According to the agreement, ABB will help Chinese SMEs achieve their energy conservation and emission reduction goals in a systematic and continuous manner.

According to the agreement, the two parties will cooperate closely to help Chinese SMEs master the systematic knowledge and technology of energy conservation and consumption reduction through various means such as organizing energy efficiency seminars, technical training, and providing consulting services. ABB will also use its extensive experience in the field of global energy efficiency and energy conservation to help companies formulate energy conservation and emission reduction guidelines and recommend relevant solutions to them.

Yuan Pu, director of the Coordination Center for Foreign Cooperation of China's Small and Medium-sized Enterprises of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that cooperation is mainly targeted at the majority of SMEs that account for 99% of the total number of Chinese companies. If we can reduce energy consumption in the industrial sector, especially in energy-intensive industries such as mining and metallurgy, pulp and paper, oil and gas, petrochemicals, manufacturing and power generation, we can effectively support the national energy-saving emission reduction. The overall goal is achieved.

The ABB Group's senior vice president and chairman of ABB China, Ruirui Rui, said that most people have realized that there are two ways to solve global climate change and energy shortage: one is to develop renewable energy; the other is to use existing technologies for energy efficiency . The latter approach is undoubtedly faster and more economical than the former. ABB has the ability to help energy-conserving industries account for more than 70% of energy efficiency.

ABB is a global leader in power and automation technology. Energy efficiency is one of its core businesses. In 2008, energy efficiency business accounted for 45% of ABB's annual sales. In order to consolidate its leading edge in energy efficiency, ABB has maintained a stable R&D investment. In recent years, ABB's R&D costs for energy-efficient technologies and products have accounted for more than 50% of the Group's total investment in R&D. Its comprehensive solutions cover all aspects of the energy chain and can reduce energy consumption by 20% to 30%.
