Beijing Sanitation Vehicle will use biogas energy in 2015

Beijing started researching the further utilization of waste decomposition gas and eventually used it for automotive fuel. Sanitation vehicles have already used this biogas energy. According to the plan, by 2015, Beijing's 2,500 sanitation vehicles will all use clean energy fuel extracted from garbage to achieve the goal of "sanitation vehicles using sanitation gas."

The Anding Waste Sanitary Landfill, located in Anding Township, Daxing District, Beijing, handles 700 tons of waste daily, mainly from domestic waste in Xicheng District and Daxing District. After the completion of the second phase of the expansion project this year, the daily garbage disposal capacity will double to 1,400 tons. He Liang, deputy general manager of Beijing Sanitation Group, said that in 2007 Beijing Sanitation Group established Beijing's first environmental technology research and development center, and after three years of independent research and development of landfill gas efficient collection and production of clean fuel technology products. In 2010, Beijing Sanitation Group built China's first landfill gas liquefaction natural gas demonstration project in Anding Landfill, with an annual treatment capacity of 5.6 million cubic meters. According to calculations, this technology can produce 2.394 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas per year, which is equivalent to 2.3 million liters of gasoline per year for 93, and at the same time achieving a carbon dioxide emission reduction of 52,100 tons per year.
